A Short Film
Chandra Anapana
My full name is Chalairat Akarayanapan. Hidden inside it are the words of the practice. This film draws them out one breath at a time, under a rising moon, and the breath line at the bottom keeps the same 4-2-6-2 pace as the guide above. Breathe with it. Headphones help.
Anapana
Mindfulness of breathing
Anapana is the oldest and simplest meditation: attention on the breath as it comes in and goes out, nothing added. When the mind wanders, and it will, you notice, and you come back to the breath. That returning is the practice.
The 4-2-6-2 rhythm above is a gentle way in. A longer out-breath than in-breath tells the body it is safe, and the two short rests give the mind somewhere to land. If any part feels like a strain, shorten it. The breath should never be forced.
“The light in me honors the light in you.”
